History: The Playgroup was established in 1971 and during 2003 we expanded to include full day care, the the toddler group and out of schoolcare with "Cool Cats" (offering a breakfast, after school and holiday club).
In July 2008 we opened in Wells Surestart Children's Centre(new premises on the original site) and have expanded again to include a baby room. Polka Dots baby room welcomes babies and toddlers under 2 years.
Credentials: We are registered with Ofsted, fully insured and our experienced staff have professional child care qualifications (some are working towards higher ones.) All have enhanced crb police checks.
Management Committee: Polka Day Care is a registered charity and is run by a voluntary management committee of parents and interested people who are elected at the Annual General Meeting.
Admissions: We operate a waiting list. If a place is not available we will notify you as soon as we have a vacancy. We accept children from outside our catchment area subject to availability.
Opening Times: Polka Day Care is available from 8.00 am until 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday for children aged 3 months to 11 years. Polka Day Care is open all year including school holidays and school training days. We close on bank holidays and for one week at Christmas.
Registration and Payment: A charge of £10.00 is payable on registration to cover administration costs. Fees are payable weekly, monthly or termly in advance also for all absences, this can be arranged when registering your child/ren. You will be required to sign a contract confirming your requirements.
Invoices are issued before the beginning of each month and all invoices must be paid in advance i.e. within 7 days of the start of the month.
As a charity we rely on invoices being paid on time, this helps us to keep fees to a minimum.
Preferred method of payment is by standing order. Any payments paid by cheque (cash in exceptional circumstances) must be placed in the red post box on the wall of each room.
Any change and receipt will be issued separately.
If there are any extra payments for outings for example, parents/carers will receive prior notification in writing.
Meals: Prices include lunch when they attend over lunchtime - 12.00pm Tea can be provided for £2.00 per meal.
Policies: A copy of our policies are available on request and are also on display on the parents notice board.
